Plaster mesh is a special material designed for strong adhesion between the plaster layer and the wall. It serves to strengthen the walls and prevent cracking and crack propagation. Gives strength to the mortar, ensures adhesion between the wall and the plaster layer. It has small cells, thanks to which the solution is reliably fixed on the surface, does not drain and does not fall off. Available in rolls.

In the article, we will tell you in detail what the plaster mesh and reinforcement mesh are for, about the types, characteristics of the material. And what kind of mesh is needed for plastering walls and ceilings.

Wall Reinforcement Mesh

• Metallic. Designed for surfaces with defects requiring the application of a thick layer of plaster mortar. It prevents peeling and swelling of the surface;
• Plastic. It is used for finishing with putty or plaster mixture. Used for external and internal work;
• Fiberglass mesh. It is used for plastering walls, for working with microcement, quartz, self-leveling floors, in preparation for laying tiles.

Types of reinforced meshes by purpose
• Masonry room. It is an iron mesh used during construction when laying bricks. Provides strength and shatter resistance, prevents excessive shrinkage. Has a corrosion resistance and withstands various mechanical influences;
• Fiberglass mesh. Possesses wear resistance, resistance to alkali and moisture, has a low weight;
• Galvanized. Used for rooms with high humidity;
• Polypropylene mesh. It is produced from polypropylene and has a low weight, has stabilizing properties. Thanks to its waterproofness, it can be used in different climatic conditions.
• Steel. Ideal for outdoor use;
• Fiberglass (cobweb) is a thin fiberglass fabric that is glued to a putty and primed surface;
• Non-woven - is a thinner and cheaper analogue of fiberglass. Provides perfect smoothness of the surface to be painted.

What kind of grid is needed for plastering walls and facade

The grid is selected taking into account the type of coverage, load and climatic features in which the object is located.

• Alkali-resistant polymer mesh. The material has a high degree of resistance to alkalis, corrosion and moisture, avoids the formation of cracks and fractures. Widely used to strengthen the walls of facades of brick, foam concrete and aerated concrete of small and large objects;
• Metal - used for outdoor work with a thick layer of mortar on aerated concrete, brick and reinforced concrete surfaces. Serves to strengthen the plaster layer, and the walls themselves. Has resistance to alkaline solutions.

What mesh is needed for plastering ceilings

Plaster of a ceiling without use of a grid is possible at a smooth surface without cracks and differences. Most often, experts recommend the use of lightweight types - fiberglass, fiberglass mesh with differences within 3 cm with a surface roughness of more than 5 cm using a metal mesh.

We considered the question: "why do you need a mesh for reinforcement". When choosing a grid, we recommend paying attention to the coating material, quality and price of the product. Prefer a reliable manufacturer with a good reputation in the market.
