Surface preparation
The surface must be clean, dry, even, load-bearing, and prepared in accordance with the above standards. New cement screeds or concrete substrates must be at least 28 days old. Contaminants and substances that negatively affect adhesion must be removed. When used within a waterproofing system, “AquaGrund” should be applied as a primer. To prevent contamination or in case of existing mold, mildew, algae, or fungi, “BiozidGrund” should be used.
Material preparation
“FlexSpachtel” is a ready-to-use dispersion filler. Thoroughly mix the contents of the container using a low-speed mixer. Dilution is generally not required; however, if necessary to adjust the consistency, the filler may be diluted with water, but not more than 1% by weight.
Application
Apply evenly using a stainless steel trowel, distributing the material over the surface to the required thickness. When used as a repair compound and irregularities or chips exceed 6 mm in depth, it is recommended to apply the material in several layers, allowing each previous layer to dry completely.
Further processing
After complete drying of the final filler layer, it is recommended to sand the surface using abrasive materials P150–P240. To prevent air and environmental contamination, sanding should be carried out using mechanized sanding equipment (disc or angle grinders) with local dust extraction.
When used as a repair filler in dry indoor areas: treat the surface with the fixing primer “UniGrund” or the primer concentrate “GrundKonzentrat”, then proceed with standard finishing technologies.
When used as a filler within a waterproofing system: the waterproofing “1K HydroFlex” is applied directly onto the dried “FlexSpachtel” layer without the need for additional priming.
Attention! After complete drying and abrasive treatment, the “FlexSpachtel” filler must be protected with special wood coatings such as varnish, enamel, glaze, paint, wood protection agents, etc.
