Application Technology
The substrate must be sound, dry, and clean, free from efflorescence, dust, dirt, oil, and grease. Previously painted surfaces should be cleaned of any loose or peeling coatings and lightly sanded. Areas affected by mold or moss must be mechanically cleaned and treated with BiozidGrund D-07 (ELF™) or another suitable fungicidal primer.
Stir the material thoroughly before application. Depending on the substrate, up to 5% water may be added. Apply QUARTZ PRIMER, QUARTZ PRIMER Grosso, or Akryl-PutzGrund 117 (ELF™) to the prepared surface according to the desired texture, and allow it to dry completely.
The material offers great flexibility in application techniques, allowing the creation of a variety of decorative finishes, including textured Mediterranean-style surfaces, natural rock effects using the Riviera technique, or a smooth patina finish.
After applying the base coat, allow the surface to dry completely for 24–48 hours.
If necessary, lightly sand the dried surface and prime it with Opti Grund D-11. To achieve a patina effect, it is recommended to use Velatura Vintage or Velatura Vintage Matt, which can be tinted with universal colorants or by a computerized tinting system.
As a final step, protect the surface with a suitable exterior protective finish. For highly vapor-permeable substrates, such as aerated concrete, limestone, or mineral wool insulation systems, use façade finishes with enhanced vapor permeability.
